About Our Library
The Blowing Rock Community Library is a charming, historic library located in downtown Blowing Rock on the corner of Main Street and Park Avenue. Established in 1923, the library is housed in a beautiful stone building constructed in 1949. Featuring warm wood paneling and a large stone fireplace, the library maintains its connection to the past with old time charm. One of the library's unique features is the card catalog which is still used by staff to catalog books. For the youngest visitors, the children's section features a diverse collection books from preschool to high school sure to engage readers of all ages. In a nod to the present, the library also has public wifi, allowing visitors to engage in research and digital activities with their own devices. Visitors can also browse our used book sale featuring books, collectible volumes, jigsaw puzzles, DVDs and CDs with prices starting at $1. Donations of gently used books and puzzles are always welcome.

"Jessie"
The bronze statue of "Jessie" was created by Charlotte sculptor Cantey Tanner and donated to the library by the Tomlinson family in honor of Grace Carr, a longtime librarian in Blowing Rock.

Many days you'll find children (and adults) sitting on the bench reading or taking a selfie with Jessie. Locals adore Jessie and often accessorize her for the season!
